Lend Me a Tenor’s Rapid-Fire Rollicking Fun Coming to the Under Ground Theatre, Eastbourne
Wednesday 23rd April 2014 to Saturday 26th April 2014 nightly at 7.30 (bar and coffee bar from 7.00) with a matinee on Saturday at 3.00 (bar and coffee bar from 2.30).
The Dicker Players are pleased to present Lend Me a Tenor by Ken Ludwig at the Under Ground Theatre.
“It’s all about the doors,” says Marilyn Chandler, director. “When a door opens, you know someone’s coming through it, and it’s always the very worst person it could be.” Worst for the characters, that is – best for the audience.
There are six doors in the set of Ken Ludwig’s Tony-winning farce about the incredible things that go wrong with the local gala fundraiser, and one or more of them is bound to be opening, closing or, mostly, slamming pretty much all the time. The renowned tenor “Il Stupendo” is scheduled to sing the lead in the opera Otello. When he is unexpectedly incapacitated, Max, the opera director’s meek assistant has to find a last minute replacement. Chaos ensues, including a scheming soprano, a tenor-struck ingĂ©nue, a jealous wife and the police department!
Lend Me a Tenor runs from Wednesday 23rd April 2014 to Saturday 26th April 2014 nightly at 7.30 (bar and coffee bar from 7.00) with a matinee on Saturday at 3.00 (bar and coffee bar from 2.30).
