What's next?! THIS: 23-26th April

Lend Me a Tenor’s Rapid-Fire Rollicking Fun Coming to the Under Ground Theatre, Eastbourne
Wednesday 23rd April 2014 to Saturday 26th April 2014 nightly at 7.30 (bar and coffee bar from 7.00) with a matinee on Saturday at 3.00 (bar and coffee bar from 2.30).
The Dicker Players are pleased to present Lend Me a Tenor by Ken Ludwig at the Under Ground Theatre.
“It’s all about the doors,” says Marilyn Chandler, director.  “When a door opens, you know someone’s coming through it, and it’s always the very worst person it could be.”  Worst for the characters, that is – best for the audience.
There are six doors in the set of Ken Ludwig’s Tony-winning farce about the incredible things that go wrong with the local gala fundraiser, and one or more of them is bound to be opening, closing or, mostly, slamming pretty much all the time.  The renowned tenor “Il Stupendo” is scheduled to sing the lead in the opera Otello.   When he is unexpectedly incapacitated, Max, the opera director’s meek assistant has to find a last minute replacement.  Chaos ensues, including a scheming soprano, a tenor-struck ingĂ©nue, a jealous wife and the police department!
Lend Me a Tenor runs from Wednesday 23rd April 2014 to Saturday 26th April 2014 nightly at 7.30 (bar and coffee bar from 7.00) with a matinee on Saturday at 3.00 (bar and coffee bar from 2.30).
Tickets are £12 (concessions £9) in person from the Under Ground Theatre whenever open for a UGT event or on the door, pre-performance (subject to availability - call the theatre on 01323-430077) OR call Josie of the Dicker Players on 01323 485153 to book your ticket then post a cheque, OR buy online with Paypal.

Previous winners of the Eastbourne Drama Festival with Blue Remembered Hills, the Dicker Players have been wowing audiences for a long time with their fabulous Dicker Cabaret and drama productions.  They hope you will enjoy this award winning farce.

CABARET 2013 Tickets

Tickets for Cabaret 2013 are already selling so don't leave it too late to book yours.  £10 each.

Last year we tried a self-catering night which was very successful, especially as it meant the cast could actually have a break, so that's the format for all performances this year. Either bring your own food (picnic style or four course meal with candelabras, it's up to you - we're just providing the tables and chairs) or you can order a takeaway direct from Polegate Fisheries to be delivered in the interval. Chippy menu HERE...

Watch this space for photos of our next rehearsal...plus we'll update the CAST page with information about our new and returning members.

Monday, 16 September 2013

First [Cabaret 2013]  ACTUAL rehearsal tonight - we've already done all the writing and thrashing out the contents of the show so we're well ahead of ourselves and can now enjoy leisurely learning lines and ignoring the artistic direction of our artistic director. Our musical director was too knackered after the Hailsham Festival of Arts & Culture to pick up his guitar so we didn't tackle any of the numerous songs tonight but we had a hoot reading through the sketches. We are joined by two brand new members of the cast, who have talent, and three returning members from previous years, who have different talents, so our numbers have swelled for this year which should mean the show will be EVEN better than last year. It should be, but we can't make any promises. One thing we can promise is that there will be a 'contains strong language' sticker on the posters. It won't be much worse than previous years, we're just giving people fair warning this time.

Dates are set: 29th/30th November and 6th/7th December. 8pm Polegate School Hall, Oakleaf Drive, Polegate. Self catering only - bring your own meal and drinks for the interval or order a takeaway to be delivered. Get your tickets NOW.
